The Onboarding process at
eXp Realty

Here's a quick and easy breakdown of the steps to join eXp Realty!

Quick and easy steps!

If you're thinking about joining eXp Realty and curious about what to expect, don't worry about the overwhelming onboarding process. eXp provides abundant assistance and resources to help you every step of the way. In this guide, we'll walk you through the six essential steps of becoming an eXp Realty agent, including the emails you'll receive and a variety of resources available to you for additional support.

Here's what we'll go over:

  • Submitting your application to join eXp Realty

  • License verification and ICA review by eXp Realty

  • Transferring your license and affiliating with MLS

  • Getting started with eXp Realty

  • Officially activating your eXp Realty status

  • Additional resources to help you along the way

1. Submitting your application to join eXp Realty

To begin the eXp Realty onboarding process, you'll need to fill out the "eXp Realty Join Application" and Independent Contractor Agreement.

Simply go to join.exprealty.com and click "Apply as an Agent" in the top-right corner. During the application process, you'll need to provide your real estate license number (if you have one), your preferred commission disbursement method, direct deposit information, payment authorization for the setup fee, and which REALTOR association and MLS you want to be affiliated with.

You'll also need to name a sponsor, who will provide you with additional support and resources throughout your eXp Realty journey. It's important to note that I don't recommend joining eXp Realty without a sponsor, as there are no additional fees or splits associated with naming a sponsor, and you'll receive additional support and resources. To learn more about partnering with Omni X and/or Luxe Omni at eXp Realty, visit our partner page for exclusive access to our course academy, weekly Zoom training calls, referral network, your eXp Explained Landing Page, and a private Facebook community.

You can save your progress and pick up where you left off by logging in with your credentials at https://joinapp.exprealty.com/SSO/. After submitting your application, you'll receive an email with your login credentials and a guest pass to access eXp World, where you can get help with the onboarding process and customer service.

To activate your eXp access, click on the "Activate" link in the email eXp sends you after signing your independent contractor agreement, and follow the steps to configure your account and choose a security question and answer. To sign in to eXp World, go to eXp.world  and enter your username and password to login.

Finally, you'll need to sign your Independent Contractor Agreement, which will be emailed to you for e-signature after completing the Join Application.

2. License verification and ICA review by eXp Realty

After you sign your Independent Contractors Agreement, eXp Realty's internal team will also sign it during normal business hours on Monday to Friday. You will receive an email notification and be contacted via phone or text if revisions are required.

Once the internal team has signed the agreement, you will receive another email containing a copy of your Independent Contractors Agreement that you can download and keep for your records. The email's subject line will read "Welcome to eXp Realty Let's get started."

Please note, if you are joining the Luxe Omni team you'll be signing a team addendum later to change your cap amount to $4k or $8k (whatever the team is currently qualified for) from the $16k standard cap.

3. Transferring your license and affiliating with MLS

After signing your Independent Contractor Agreement, the next step is to transfer your license to eXp. This process varies depending on your state, and you will receive an email from your state broker team within 24-48 hours with instructions specific to your location. However, if you are located in NY, TN, or DE, you will need to speak with the broker team to continue with License Activation/Transfer as required by state regulations.

To ensure a smooth process, it's important to reach out to the Broker Teams proactively. If you haven't received notification that your license has been transferred and haven't heard from the Broker Team within 24 business hours, you can contact them at (StateAbbreviation).onboarding@exprealty.com or through eXp World by going to Menu -> Broker State Room -> State.

Once your license transfer is complete, the Designated Managing Broker will sign off on your file, and you can move on to the next step. After your license is active with eXp Realty in your state, you will need to affiliate yourself with a local MLS and National Association of Realtors, as eXp Realty is a REALTOR Firm. All agents must affiliate themselves with a REALTOR Board and an MLS within a few days of joining eXp. Please note that eXp Realty does not control the costs or processes associated with joining these organizations, so it's important to investigate the costs and process before joining eXp Realty. Additionally, although many associations provide Sales Contracts and forms, each state has unique requirements, and eXp Realty is not affiliated with a forms provider. The Luxe Omni team uses Dotloop for paperwork and signature and most documents are loaded in Dotloop.

4. Getting started with eXp Realty

Once your license is transferred over, you'll be officially recognized as an eXp Realty member in your state. However, you still need to set up eXp Realty's systems and tools before you can start working.

The first step is to create your eXp email address. It's important to set up forwarding correctly between your personal and eXp addresses to ensure you don't miss any critical emails.

You'll receive an email titled "Activate your eXp Realty email address," which will provide you with instructions on how to forward emails to your eXp address.

Once you've confirmed your email address and set up forwarding, you'll be able to send and receive messages from your eXp Realty email address. Additionally, all emails from your eXp Realty address will be sent to your preferred forwarding email address.

To learn more about sending emails using your eXp Realty alias, you can refer to eXp's Knowledge Base. The email you received will include a link to the Knowledge Base and a unique password required to log in.

5. Officially activating your eXp Realty status

Congratulations! You’re now an active eXp Realty agent.

Once the eXp team activates your account, you’ll receive three different emails in your new eXp Realty email address, so make sure you set it up first. These emails are:

- A welcome email: “Welcome to eXp Realty! Your Passport Account”
- Skyslope activation: “Activate Your eXp Realty Skyslope Account.” Skyslope is a cloud-based transaction management platform where you can submit signed contracts with clients.

In the welcome email, you’ll find a link to activate your eXp Realty Passport, which is a single sign-on system that you can use to access about tons of tools and systems, including the Marketing Center, Explore Guide, and Workplace. With eXp Passport, you only need to log in once to access these systems.

If you need assistance activating your eXp Passport, you can submit a ticket to the eXp Tech Support team or contact general customer support at support@exprealty.com. Alternatively, you can get real-time assistance in eXp World, which is open Monday through Friday from 6 am to 5 pm PST and 9 am to 8 pm EST.

The welcome email will also inform you to look out for a calendar invite from the Agent Experience Team for your agent orientation. The orientation, which takes place in the eXp World auditorium, will cover most of the questions you have and familiarize you with the various systems and tools used by eXp Realty.

Lastly, the eXplore guide, which you can access through eXp Enterprise, is another helpful tool that provides information about how eXp Realty works.
