How to Combat Imposter Syndrome

Imposter syndrome can happen to anyone. It is when you suddenly doubt yourself and wonder if you can really do something. It can be debilitating, but you can work past it.

Imposter syndrome makes a person wonder if they can do their job, if they truly are an expert. It can affect anyone. As a new agent, it can be hard to get passed, but it really just takes a little confidence.

Identifying what your challenges are

The biggest challenge that most new agents face is getting out and doing something that is not normally what you do. It can be a little nerve wracking to talk to someone you don’t know. But calling leads is important to building your business, so it’s important to build your confidence. Just keep reminding yourself that you have the tools and knowledge to do this. Eventually you will get used to talking to strangers and you will become more comfortable.

Don’t let someone else’s success make you feel less than

Just because someone has a lot of sales and appears to have their stuff together, it doesn’t mean they are better. It is important to make sure you build relationships with people and be trustworthy. Work to help people rather than just getting sales. Your service will speak for itself and people will begin to notice.

Don’t let your emotion keep you from moving forward

If you start to doubt yourself, make it a habit to write down your accomplishments and also your goals. Set a number of people that you want to help and start calling them. Eventually this will become a habit and will help keep your imposter syndrome in check.

Ultimately, it is important to make sure you believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself, how can you expect a potential client to believe in you? It is important to remind yourself that you are capable of being successful. Think about your accomplishments and keep your imposter away.
